So, the other night I was at my grandparents house (my Nana and Tata) and we were watching Boomerang, which has all the old cartoons. This show came on and my mind exploded with memories of watching this show, it was called "Swat Kats". It was amazing how I suddenly remembered this old TV show. So the next day I was asking around "do you remember Swat Kats?" and no one did! I can't believe no one remembered that show, it was freakin awesome!
So anywho, that show was tight, and now i miss the 90's.
There aren't any more good cartoons on, it's all cheap humor, however, there is one show that has some sort of quality of good humor to it. I was watching this show with my lil bro and sis (the show is called "Chowder") and i was crackin up! The real funny thing was my lil bro and sis had gotten so used to the cheap humor they didn't get any of the real comedy. I was bummed, here's this show that actually has some real good comedy to it (but not as much as Tom and Jerry) and my lil bro and sis don't get it. how sad :(

my reflection on expression.
so, I've been thinking, about what? I don't know, I've just been thinking about everything. Sometimes i just like to think, it helps me get away from everything, I still get things done, but I spend more time thinking about my life, the choices I've made, the friends I've chosen, the people I love. It helps me get back in touch with myself, I find who I am again.
there are different ways people think, sometimes they just come to someone and talk and talk and they don't care if you're listening or not, they just need to talk. Some people (like me) express themselves visually, others express themselves through writing. I guess i would be one of all those things. I like listening to people, hearing their joys, their sorrows. I like listening more than I like talking, maybe it helps me reflect on my own life, i don't know.
People's thoughts help me connect with them, they give me insight into who they are, what they believe, what the think about things. I don't necessarily want to hear their latest drama, I just want to see how people reflect on events. Most importantly, I want to be there for people, there for my friends, my family, because, i care about them.
I find it rare to see someone who cares, most people just blow you off with a sarcastic remark, or they laugh at you, others will criticize you or tell you that you're wrong. All of those people don't really care, that's why i try to be there for my friends, because i know that sometimes you just need someone, someone to lay your burdens on, most people would call it "venting". I think there is a difference, venting is a one sided thing, sharing your burdens with someone who is willing to accept them is different, that is how you create a bond, a connection with that person. so. with that said..... i donno..... I guess that was my reflection.

A moment in my mind.
If you could spend a moment in my mind you'd be surprised, so much goes on, ideas, thoughts. Great things happen, the only problem is... how to get them out? I can't always blog them, they're spontaneous. Then there's the whole artist factor, i find myself drawing things through my mind, comparing the darks from the lights, carving out a form, watching a line. It's all quite beautiful, I find myself asking a lot of questions, questions about everything, about science, art, the world, life. Am I the only one that cares enough to ask these things? Just recently me and my art teacher were having Lunch in his office when i asked "John? do you ever have that piece that is to small to take two bites, but to big to take one?", he gave me one of those looks of "where does this kid get these things" and he simply replied "well yea, you seem to put a lot more thought into these things though". That made me think... I really do put a lot of thought into stuff, it's a little odd, I don't know why i do I just do.
I find myself thinking up little inventions, or what it would take to make something work, Sometimes... I wonder, about what you ask? Everything. What is life without curiosity? without simple questions like "is there really such a thing as up?" A simple question can explode into a whole new range of thoughts and ideas. Our minds are quite beautiful, and sometimes we can get lost in our ideas, we get lost in the meaning of things, I think it's important to ask questions and think about stuff, however, we don't want to get away from the simple beauty of our world.
This is why i like art, when you're sitting there drawing someone or something, all you can really think about is the object, the way it moves, its form, where to put your next line. It calms you, takes you away from the world, it helps you see the beauty of the simple things. I love it, i love other peoples thoughts, I love hearing people ramble on and on about things, hearing their ideas instead of mine. I love seeing whats in peoples minds, it fascinates me, it's beautiful.

Funny thing love.
AHH, love, whats IS love? is it a feeling? an emotion? a sense? when we tell someone we "love" them what do we mean? I think that love has lost it's value in the world, nowadays, we tell our closest friends that we "love" them, and for the people we really feel strongly about we say "I like you". it's a little odd, you would think Love would have a much greater value than Like.
So, how do we know when we love someone? well, to be frank, i don't know. all that we know is ourselves, we know our feelings, our emotions, our thoughts. When we learn to read all these things together, unbiased, we might find our love.
The world has perverted Love, people seem to think "oh damn, she's hot, i love her". They confuse Love with Lust, Lust is the near opposite of love, it is wrong and should never be taken as love. The world has tried to destroy love, it has tried to destroy marriage, it has tried to lower the value, "why get married?" "why love someone?".
Love is one of the last great things we have on earth, more beautiful than any song or painting, we cannot tame it, it is pure. Love gets past looks, it shows you a person for who they really are, and you love them for that. It isn't sex either, but I'll save that for another time or else I'll just ramble on forever.
So, to answer my question "what is love", well, to put it simply, Love is Love. There is no other way to express it unless to a person, it's more of an action, something you do, but then again, it is also a feeling. Love is in a category of it's own, true love lasts forever, it doesn't fail. There are so many broken marriages now because people misinterpret love, and it breaks my heart, if parents don't even know what love is who will teach us? who will teach the kids? I see kids today, they have their boyfriends or girlfriends, and it seems to a new person every 2 months. is that love? is that what it means to love someone?
Growing up i have seen what it means to love someone, I have seen that it is only possible to love one person, and when you love that person nothing can stop you. Love is not the latest boyfriend or girlfriend, it's not something you play around with. It's like drawing with no eraser, you have to be careful where you put your lines because once their on the paper they never come off.

ok really, lets get serious.
ok, so i know that all my previous posts have been all fun and games but this time it's serious.... This has been on my mind for nearly a year now and i had to get it out. who ate all my chocolate covered popcorn?!? huh? who could do such a thing? is that what it means to be a person now, to eat each others popcorn without asking? what has become of this world? Some times i think to myself "would i have eaten that popcorn?" And the truth is: yes, i would've eaten that popcorn because it was mine.
The world is filled with people that will take your popcorn, and sometimes, you just gotta accept it... or... like me, you could write a blog about it. You could turn to everyone that you know and say "did you take my popcorn?". You could make it into a big deal, something as small as popcorn, turn it into a valuable lesson. A lesson about what? well, there are two lessons to be learned here. A. you can make a serious subject out of everything, and B. you shouldn't eat popcorn that isn't yours! It's just plain wrong. So, with that said, go out, be nice, and don't eat popcorn that doesn't belong to you.

How I wish I were a child agian.
It's odd how as children all we want to do is "grow up", and when we find ourselves "grown" all we want is to be a child again, why is that? why do people long for the days of their childhood? As children we are innocent, we are free from troubles and worries of life.
We long for those days again because they were our moments of freedom, freedom from this busy world, a world of business and people, all living life in the fast lane. sometimes the only way to become free from our busy lives is to become a child again, but you ask "how do you become a child?". The answer is simple, don't care. Children are free from care, they don't care how they look, who likes them, who doesn't. When we learn to be free from care we become as children. we find ourselves outside playing catch, playing with play dough, away from our computers and cell phones, out of our houses and in the street once again, seeing who could hit the ball farther, yelling "CAR!" and scattering to the sidewalk so to not get hit. These are moments I long for, moments with friends, moments of fun and freedom, as we get older these moments become fewer and fewer, we get caught up with school, jobs, we become "grownups". Then, we realize, that childhood was the greatest time of our life, and once again, we seek it out.

The beauty of our world
There are many beautiful and diverse things in this world, yet, some people see it all the same, they don't see the unique shapes and curves of a tree, they don't see that every bird looks different up close. We miss out on the beauty of nature, we get caught up in the idea that we would have to go to the Amazon to see "nature", when in reality all we have to do is step outside, look up, see the clouds? the birds? the sun? we see a tree, is it nature? yes, it is, and it's different from every other tree on the planet. Our world has it's own natural beauty, we create cities and beautiful buildings, but nothing can compare with the beauty that is nature.
Nature isn't just a trail out in the woods, it's not taking a hike, it's the earth, often times we can't even see a sunset because of all the buildings, we find it rare to see the ocean from the edge of a cliff, we only see the sunrise at 70 miles per hour on a crowded highway. How can we live our lives without the beauty of nature? As an Artist you see the world for all of it's beauty, you don't see the latest apple product, you see how every apple is a different shade of red.
I think people get to mixed up in trying to live their busy lives, they seem to miss the true beauty of the world they live in, they miss nature and it's diversity, what's the point of living on a beautiful earth when we never get to experience it?
-Ernie

What lurks in the dark?
As children we fear that gap between the closet door, that gap of blindness, where no light can enter. We seem to see the unseen, the "monster' that stalks us at night, it takes our sleep, every noise is a threat, we look for comfort through our blankets. Parents can't see it, they've gone past the fearful age. The only thing that can stop it is light, the light of a lamp or nightlight is best, we find protection in light. Why is that? a warning from our past? to be careful of the dark?
Is it a childs imagination that creates these monsters? or is something really there?
Children have an imagination more powerful than the greatest artist, greater than the most advanced computer. They can see the unseen, create monsters from nothing. When we get older we think of how silly we were, "how could there have been a monster in my closet?" we ask ourselves as we stare at that space, wondering, "could something be there? was it my imagination?" a minute feels 10, an hour is like eternity, time slows, we stare on thinking, wondering. The thought never leaves us, the monster stays, stalking us until we have no time to think of it, we forget it, yet, it's there. Whenever we lay in the silence of night, we hear that creak, we see the gap, the portal to our childhood, we grip our blankets for comfort, we seek the light. What is the Monster? why does it stalk us?
Some would say it's a defence mechanism left over from our evolution, there to protect us from the predators that lurk in the dark. I would say it's our fear of the unknown, as Humans we seek answers, "what lies in the dark that we cannot see?" we create monsters to give us an answer to that burning question. It happens to children more because they have a greater imagination. We can't help but create these fears, fears that stalk us in our most vulnerable state.
I still fear that gap, i find myself staring at it, wondering, "is something watching me?" my eyes are drawn to that space, the emptiness of it, in seek of an answer. "what lurks in the dark?"

To whom it may concern.
to: whom it may concern
does anyone care anymore? do people want to help eachother? is there anyone left in the world? sometimes it feels like no one is there, as though u can shout as loud as you can and no one will bother to look in your direction. we miss a lot the people in this world because we are so busy with our own lives. when will we get up and take a step back? our world is like a picture, you can't see it's full beauty when your nose is up agianst it, you have to stand back to really see it. we get caught up in our own routine and never stop to smile and look someone in the eye, life becomes a flash, a blur. We miss out on something so beautiful when not corrupted, we see families, we see couples, we see friends. In these moments, when we take that step back, we see the true beauty that is life. We see what God has created, not as a horrible mistake, but as something beautiful that only we have corrupted, people get to close to the picture, to caught up with the tiny little details, they ruin it, they smudge it, they get thier dirty noses all over it. If we could all step back we would see eachother, we would see eachother as people, living in the same world. I don't care what ethnicity you are, i don't care if you're in a gang or what "hood" you're in, I see you as a member of Earth, created by God, and loved by him.
With that said, go, look into the world, get your nose off of it, stop worrying, life is much to short to worry. Get out, go see the beauty, the beauty of people, of our world, the beauty of life.

What the whooha?!?!
Life is filled with random events, we have absolutely no control over these events, some people hate them, others? love them. Some of these events include getting pooped on by a bird, having someone spill soda on your brand new shirt, tripping down the stairs (and looking like an idiot). Like I said, we cannot control these things and most of us hate it when they happen to us, however, when it's another person that encounters one of these, we laugh, we point, we make fun. Funny, how we can laugh at someone yet despise the very thing that has happened to them. So whats my point? is it that we shouldn't laugh? that we should be "mature" and think of others? No way! by all means laugh, laugh hard! it may sound mean but it's funny, laugh, when it happens to someone and laugh when it happens to you. The truth is, without these random events life is boring, so, with that said, go laugh. What is life without spontaneous laughter? laughter so pure you feel sick. Laughter can temporarily free you from time, free you from worry.
